Telkom Pitch the Future: 'It's important to nurture business ideas'

702 'Pitch the Future with Telkom' wants to encourage listeners with business ideas to take the first step towards making their ideas a reality.

It’s a business incubator concept with a difference – where previous on-air incubator concepts on 702 have focused exclusively on existing businesses, this concept is aimed at start-ups and business ideas.

To enter, go to 702.co.za to fill in the business plan template.

10 finalists will then be chosen based on the strength of their business ideas and profiled live on-air.

READ: Ten listeners get the chance to pitch their business plans and win

Xolani Gwala, standing in for Joanne Joseph, spoke to lead business mentor and MD at SiMODiSA, Matsi Modise, to find out more about the initiative and what you need to know to pitch your idea.

Venture capitalists like it when they see the scars - you have tried, you have tested and now you have got a product. It is important to show that you have some skin in the game, that this idea is not something that I just woke up with but something I have been working on.

Matsi Modise, MD at SiMODiSA

We are looking for technology-based or technology-enabled....it does not have to be an app. As long as you can illustrate your business is scalable.

Matsi Modise, MD at SiMODiSA

It is important that we create platforms like these to nurture ideas because one of them will be that one billion dollar deal that will really disrupt the entire world.
