The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviews Stadio CEO Dr Chris van der Merwe.

Private tertiary education company Stadio reported headline earnings of R32 million for the six months to 30 June 2018.

That is up from R3 million for the same period last year.

Headline earnings per share came it at 3.5 cents from 0.8 cents a year before.

In the six months under review Stadio grew enrolment from 1112 students to 27 777.

Stadio hasn’t declared a dividend.

Stadio unbundled from Curro Holdings and listed on the JSE in October last year.

The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviewed Stadio CEO Dr Chris van der Merwe.

Listen to the interview in the audio below (scroll down for quotes from it).

When we started Curro with 28 children in a church… it takes time. In the case of Curro it took five to six years… Once we start marketing, the brand [Stadio] will become more well-known…

Dr Chris van der Merwe, Stadio

We own 59 qualifications with 44 under development… Eventually we’ll attempt… to train doctors.
