Sygnia Group: Mcebisi Jonas brings with him ample experience in financial sector

CEO at Sygnia Group, Magda Wierzycka says the reason to appoint former deputy finance minister Mcebisi Jonas into its board is based solely on the fact that the company is growing and its growth it needs people with ample experience in the financial sector.

She says Sygnia has grown to be a medium-sized financial services company, therefore, requires a bigger board.

We do require the services of people who have wisdom and experience. At the same time you need to make sure that those directors share the values and the culture of the company.

In finding directors we need to look for people who are in alliance with our belief system and I couldn't think of anyone that is more reflective of what we want to stand for as a business than Mcebisi Jonas.

Wierzycka says that being the former deputy minister of finance, Jonas brings a wealth of experience with him which help take the company to greater heights.

We are very privileged that he has agreed, but apart from that, he was the deputy minister of finance so he brings with him a wealth of financial sector experience.

In June, Jonas was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director at MTN.
