Head of SIU Advocate Andy Mothibi says the Presidency has given the go-ahead for the SIU to probe in matters of about four additional state institutions.

The scope of the investigation starting off with the Department of Water and Sanitation is that there have been allegations of irregularities committed in the department of water affairs in the procurement of the SAP system.

Advocate Andy Mothibi, Head of SIU

The allegations are that there would have been irregularities including some corruption committed leading to some of the officials receiving kickbacks to the value of millions of rands, not less than R35 million as a kickback.

He adds that the department purchased this system without following appropriate processes as defined by the supply chain management system.
