AMCU President Joseph Mathunjwa gives an update on the salary negotiations with some of the top mines.

It seems trouble in the mining is far from over.

Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) is taking Sibanye Stillwater, Platinum Gold to the CCMA over job losses amongst other issues.

The union is also planning on obtaining a certificate to strike.

We are still at the Competitions Commission where we are opposing the take over of Lonmin by Sibanye Stillwater.

Joseph Mathunjwa, AMCU President

From their side, they have concluded everything, so we are just debating some things with the Competition Commission to say they must have some undertaking because they are promising that 12 500 jobs will be shed because of the take over by Sibanye.

Joseph Mathunjwa, AMCU President

READ: 'The revolution is imminent'

With three mines we have declared a dispute with the CCMA. Tomorrow we will be in a conciliation of which, if we fail, there it will be a strike. It will be a protected strike.
