[LISTEN] Magashule admits to meeting with Jacob Zuma, denies plot allegations
African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Ace Magashule has admitted to meeting with former president Jacob Zuma at a Durban hotel on Thursday but has slammed allegations of a plot to unseat President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Magashule was speaking during an interview with eNCA's Vuyo Mvoko on Tuesday in response to the Sunday Times report implicating him in the alleged conspiracy.
Magashule says it is not the first time he has met with Zuma and explains their appointment was about organisational issues.
Mvoko joined Karima Brown in studio to share more details on the interview, as well as his take on it.
To a very large extent or degree, the secretary-general runs the party so whenever there are problems, they are required to act, that is where the organisatio meets - that is the center that is supposed to hold but of course nothing has been normal about the past few years.Vuyo Mvoko, eNCA anchor
At some point I did ask him whether he shouldn't have been a little more circumspect in his dealings, particularly because he has been a part of the Zuma faction. He has been integrally involved.Vuyo Mvoko, eNCA anchor
...that coming on the back of a departure that Jacob Zuma did not appreciate. He did not want to leave and everybody knows that, so you need to be clear and aware. On the other hand it is not in Ace Magashule's nature to feel that he owes anybody any explanation.Vuyo Mvoko, eNCA anchor
