ConCourt rules dagga legal for private use
The Constitutional Court has upheld the Western Cape High Court ruling that the private use of dagga is legal.
Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo made the ruling on Tuesday morning.
The court has thus decriminalised the use and possession of dagga in private use by an adult. It also gives Parliament 24 months to change a section of the Medicine Controls Act.

#Dagga Zondo: The judgement doesn’t specify the amount that can be used by an adult in private use - this must be determined by parliament. It must be for the personal use of the person.— EWN Reporter (@ewnreporter) September 18, 2018
