Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the new schools they are building have new security measures including CCTV cameras.

Once again videos showing violence in schools are going viral on social media.

The question that has been raised is what should be done to curb this behaviour and bring back respect to the education profession.

Azania Mosaka spoke to Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi on what he thinks the solution is and what has gone wrong.

The reality is that the respect we used to give to educators is no longer there. We have a society that no longer respects an educator.

A society that used to drive their own car now has to be in a taxi with the same learner and therefore there is no respect.

Respect for that profession has diminished and has diminished badly.
