Naked Scientist Chris Smith says there is evidence of considerable health consequences if marijuana is abused and that some plants bred for the drug industry have very high levels of chemicals including tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
Smith says the mentioned chemical has been linked to people experiencing psychosis or schizophrenic type symptoms.
There is a link between people using marijuana and people developing these symptoms, but what we are not clear about at the moment is whether people use the marijuana because they developing one of these conditions and they using the marijuana to feel better or whether the marijuana triggers the condition but we do know there is that strong association.— Chris Smith, Naked Scientist
There is also evidence that the use of marijuana does rewire the brain and people who are long term chronic users do suffer from a lack of motivation and reward.— Chris Smith, Naked Scientist
