The City of Ekhurhuleni has decided to go ahead with what has been called a test case to expropriate land without compensation.

READ:Mayor Masina still standing, despite angry calls for his removal

You will recall that there are many things happening in the country and currently with parliament holding hearings and so on.

Mzwandile Masina, Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni

But at the centre of this agreement, there has always been the issue that the current Section 25 of the Constitution as is, has never been tested in court, whether or not it can withstand the test.

Mzwandile Masina, Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni

So what the city has been doing over time, is we took some decisions that all the council-owned land that was occupied, we are going to formalise those people and give those pieces of land to those individuals, for human settlement purposes.

Mzwandile Masina, Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni
