The man accused of raping a seven-year-old child at the Dros restaurant in Silverton has been denied bail and will remain in custody until 1 November.
Eusebius McKaiser frames a question about the rape and says:
Do you want to know anything about the accused's life? You want journalists to bring you the full truth about any story that is of interest to the public and ideally in the public interest as well.— Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.
Let us say for example if EWN were to put a journalist on to the question or what is this man's background as someone in his early 20s - and the journalist was to dig and find out that this man was raped since he was a baby, hypothetically speaking?— Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.
He asks if the public would be upset about the details that tell the story about this man.
Amando, a caller says the fact that this guy might have 'hypothetically' been raped as a child, is not excusable in any way.
If I had walked into this bathroom and found this guy doing this, he would be stone dead.— Amando, caller
Zama, another caller and says he is conflicted by the questions.
Number one, I sort of kinda want to know and I am uncomfortable that I have to look at a person who I deem as a monster as a human being.— Zama, caller
I am uncomfortable to challenge the part of my brain that empathises with the journey of him turning into a monster.— Zama, caller
He adds that society may have played a role in him ending up the way that he did.
