Facebook partners with Africa Check to curb the spread of fake news

Africa Check and Facebook have joined forces to combat the spreading of fake news on the social media platform.

Fact-checkers evaluate the content’s primary claim and give it one of eight ratings, such as 'false', 'mixture' or 'true'.

Africa Check will be joining 27 partners in 17 countries in the effort.

Facebook has created a backend to the platform which fact checkers will be able to access.
