[LISTEN] CANSA launches free cookbook with focus on cancer risk reduction

The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) and B-well have released a free cookbook which you can download, with a particular focus on cancer risk reduction.

Joanne Joseph sat down with CANSA’s head of communications Lucy Balona to explore what's in the cookbook.

We came up with this cookbook because we often get asked, tell us about recipes or tell us what to eat. It was in conjunction with our consulting dietitian, so we looked at practical recipes. Things like how do we incorporate our fresh fruit and veggies daily, making sure we choosing whole grains, healthy fats and reducing the intake of red meat.

Lucy Balona, head of communications at CANSA

We also look at avoiding the processed foods. Just being natural and preparing from scratch. For instance there is recipes on how to make your own stock. There is also options for those who are vegetarian.
