[LISTEN] Creative parenting expert chats about the impact teachers have on kids
In the parenting feature, creative parenting expert Nikki Bush, chats about World Teaching Day, and shares some personal stories about her favourite teacher.
Bush says that in the classroom, there are teachers who go the extra mile.
She adds that she's still in contact with her Home Economics teacher, who's now the Deputy Principal of the school she attended.
It was my mom's 35th Birthday and I was 13. I wanted to do a surprise dinner and she (Bush's teacher) helped me hatch a plan.

Bush says that we underestimate the impact that teachers have on our kids.
She adds that teaching is a very compassionate and nurturing profession.
Today, parents spend very little time with their children says Bush
The average full time parent spends 2 - 3 hours with their children she says.
If you have a child in Preschool or Primary School, where they are not moving around from class-to-class for different subjects, they have a teacher who is with them for 5 hours a day. That's longer than a parent is with their child.
