Tekkie Town accused of mishandling employee 'naughty corner' incident
Clothing retailer Tekkie Town says it's investigating an incident involving a supervisor and an employee at Baywest Mall branch in Port Elizabeth.
The retailer was slammed after a picture of the employee went viral at the weekend.
The 18-year-old was wearing a handwritten sign with the words: "I don't listen to my supervisor. Now I'm in the naughty corner."
Speaking on behalf of the teenager, local councillor Marlon Daniels says Tekkie Town is not dealing with the incident in the right way and is insisting the employee submits a statement of what happened.
It's a shame what has happened.Marlon Daniels, Councillor in the area
People stopped and took pictures of her. The manager then put sellotape on her mouth saying she talks too much.Marlon Daniels, Councillor in the area
It is very bad conduct from the supervisor to have done that. This girl was subjected to be standing inside a window for almost two hours in view of all the shoppers on a busy afternoon with people taking pictures of her and laughing at her.Marlon Daniels, Councillor in the area
