The Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) of the ANC in Limpopo has postponed a meeting that was scheduled to take place on Thursday night, to discuss the VBS Mutual Bank 'heist' report.
Senior leaders in the region have been implicated in the R1.8bn fraud investigation against VBS Mutual Bank.
One of the individuals, Deputy chairperson of the ANC in Limpopo Florence Radzilani has been accused of investing R300 million from the Vhembe District Municipality in the embattled bank and in turn received bribes.
Limpopo ANC provincial secretary Soviet Lekganyane says the meeting has been moved to Sunday.
We could not get the availability of the provincial chairperson and myself the provincial secretary, we had other commitments which could not finish ahead of time and so we will have the meeting on Sunday morning.— Soviet Lekganyane, Limpopo ANC provincial secretary
We have read the report, we carefully studied it and there are things that we have found in the report which for now we may not be able to speak on conclusively because we have not reached a decision.— Soviet Lekganyane, Limpopo ANC provincial secretary
Lekganyane says eleven municipalities in Limpopo illegally banked with VBS, four of which withdrew their monies.
He says an organisational report is being compiled in this regard.
We have compiled a report that comes from our deployees not from the municipalities. The provincial treasury in the province is doing his own investigation. The report is under consideration by the leadership.— Soviet Lekganyane, Limpopo ANC provincial secretary
