Is Sars e-filing on the brink of collapse?

Retired Judge Robert Nugent, said on Tuesday that Sars Commissioner Tom Moyane should be fired immediately.

The judge who is leading a commission of inquiry into tax administration and governance at Sars, made the remarks in his interim report which he submitted to the president.

There are also reports that the e-filing system is operating at 25% of its capacity and that it could fall apart by next year and it will cost a billion rand to fix.

Speaking to Bongani Bingwa, managing director of One Road Consulting - tax consultancy - Ernie Lai King says these reports sound quite worrying from what we are hearing coming out from the Nugent Inquiry.

Especially with the e-filling system, if you read different reports, it seems like it is on the verge of collapse which really will be a serious problem.
