Five DA Councillors accuse the party of racism and resign

DA Councilor Shaun August resigned as both the party's Chief Whip and as DA member along with four other councillors during Patricia de Lille's last council meeting as mayor of Cape Town.

August resigned to show support to De Lille, saying he can no longer tolerate the manner in which the DA has treated her.

Other Council members that resigned include Siya Mamkeli, Suzette Little, Greg Bernado and Thulani Stemela. They have accused the party of racism.

EWN reporter Kevin Brandt says a lot has been happening at this council meeting - a lot of surprises.
