Why this analyst thinks our coalition governments aren't working

Given what is happening in different municipalities which are run by coalition governments, questions have been raised as to whether these coalition governments are working?

This comes against the backdrop of Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina surviving a motion of no confidence, the ousting Nelson Mandela Bay former mayor Athol Trollip and Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga surviving numerous motions of no confidence.

Are these coalitions working seamlessly - or are they even working at all?

Director at EDGIS Paul Berkowitz says we have had different changes in government in different metros and not just the main ones we are speaking about.

There has been some shifting in alliances in the last two years. Some of the reasons for these shifts are political maturity and ideological rifts and issues.
