'We are happy the need for energy security was highlighted'

Minister of Energy Jeff Radebe says the opening address by President Cyril Ramaphosa has resonated well with investors at the South Africa Investment Conference.

Speaking to Xolani Gwala, Minister Radebe says the President focused on energy, and investors see the sector as one to invest in.

We are very happy as the Department of Energy that the President has highlighted the need for the energy security of supply and that we are committed as South Africa to renewable energy.

Radebe says that Ramaphosa has highlighted that the reason South Africa has seen a decline in the mining sector has been because of policy uncertainty.

With the new Minister of Mineral Resources Gwede Mantashe that has been resolved. There is a new mining charter on the table.
