Associate Professor at the National Research Foundation Chair on African Diplomacy and Foreign Policy at the University of Johannesburg Mzukisi Qobo says the investment summit held last week shows that there is a lot of focus on getting the country to work.
The Investment Summit led by President Ramaphosa hosted delegates from around the world, local business people and civil societies to talk about investment opportunities in South Africa.
Businesses pledged R294 billion as an investment in the country.
The investment conference was really a confidence measure.— Mzukisi Qobo, Associate Professor at SARCHI African Diplomacy and Foreign Policy, UJ
I don't think any of the companies that pledged were necessarily pledging because of the conference. Some of the pledges were already in the pipeline.— Mzukisi Qobo, Associate Professor at SARCHI African Diplomacy and Foreign Policy
But it's significant that they make a public announcement because that is an affirmation of confidence in the direction the country is taking.— Mzukisi Qobo, Associate Professor at SARCHI African Diplomacy and Foreign Policy
