10th International Conference of Ombuds Institutions for Armed Forces underway

On Monday, the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula delivered a keynote address at the opening of the 10th International Conference of Ombuds Institutions for the Armed Forces.

The theme for this year is 'The evolving roles and responsibilities of the armed forces and the implications for ombuds institutions.

This is an office which was established to strengthen some of our instruments of oversight.

This is an office where any ordinary soldier and even the public can walk up to the ombuds and report whatever transgression or allegations they may have against the defence force.
