How do we get public servants to behave more ethically?

Eusebius Mckaiser engaged political analysts Dr Sithembile Mbete and Karima Brown on ethics and politics in light of the current debate about the power and status of the ANC's Integrity Commission.

The commission only deals with issues referred from the NEC and their terms of reference are also determined by the NEC.

It has recently recommended that ANC members implicated in the VBS Mutual bank report step aside. It has also made a number of recommendation in the past but some have not been followed through.

Just how much power does this commission have?

The idea of an integrity commission in the ANC was as a result of the fact that its internal disciplinary procedures had broken down. It was seen as partisan and unable to mitigate and be an arbiter over disagreements.
