Three injured in shooting outside Zuurbekom church

Three people have been injured in a shooting in Zuurbekom in the west of Johannesburg.

Two of the injured were trying to escape what was initially believed to be a hostage situation at the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Eyewitness News reporter Micheal Pedro was on the scene.

Around where the police were stationed were about 12 or 13 vehicles that had been battered, windows smashed, tyres slashed and bullet holes in some of the vehicles.

When we tried to find out what was going on it was still very unclear.

One group stationed outside the church wouldn't let us in. People were very stand offish and would not really speak to us to try and clarify what was going on. By the time we got there, police confirmed that there was no hostage situation, they said it was two factions within the church that got into a brawl.
