Children who have not been placed will be given alternatives - Panyaza Lesufi

Guateng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the department has given itself until Monday to place the remaining 6 000 pupils in schools across the province.

During the week, about 16,000 learners had not yet been placed.

The MEC held a media briefing on Thursday, telling parents the children who haven't been placed will be given alternatives.

He says the department will consult with parents.

If there was no need for us to consult with parents we would have just placed them and the parents would have just gotten SMSs.

Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Education MEC

We have managed to find spaces for their children, but outside the areas where they stay, so we just want to engage with them over the Monday and then deal with their disputes if they feel they want to appeal until the 15th of November.
