Medical negligence claims increase at private hospitals- report

Private hospitals have been the go-to place for quality health care.

But, a recent study done in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery at Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has revealed that civil claim settlements due to nursing malpractice in private hospitals are a growing problem in South Africa.

It is shocking the results that we have obtained.

From the 122 cases we looked at, 74% were settled out of court.
