The past couple of months have been a battle field in the DA in Cape Town, which reached a turning point on Wednesday when Patricia De Lille stepped as mayor and DA member amid a criminal investigation against her.
De Lille said she is leaving the DA, but the battle with the party will continue in court as she vowed to clear he name in public. The former mayor said this is a dent in her career, however, it is not the end.

There have been eight by-elections in the Western Cape in the past year and in seven of them, the DA has had a dramatic loss of support in municipalities.
Jonatahan Cupido who is one of the Councillors who have resigned, said things do not look good for the party.
