SA delegation in London at World Travel Market holds SA flag high

Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom and SA Tourism are leading the country’s delegation at the World Travel Market London, the world’s leading global event for the tourism industry.

This is where countries from around the world are competing for tourism dollars.

EWN UK correspondent Alex Eliseev says if you looking at everything that is going on at that event, there is a lot of pounds and dollars to be had.

The team is working hard. They are one day in and they have two days to go.

He adds that there are several factors working in both directions and in many ways the South African delegation that is there is a repair team and they are doing repair work.

Because I don't think that anyone is running away from the fact that the past couple of years have been difficult and there has been a lot of reputational damage that South Africa has suffered.

But there are also positive stories to be told, the is technology that the team is using like VR headsets to try and take people on adventures.
