Everything Miriam Makeba did was for the people, her granddaughter says

The granddaughter of the late Miriam Makeba says everything her grandmother did was for the people.

Today marks 10 years since the death of the world-renowned singer and struggle activist, affectionately known as Mama Africa.

Mama Africa died of a heart attack just after a concert in Italy in 2008.

Her grandchild, Zenzi Makeba Lee, says Makeba's spirit is happy and resting peacefully as the world celebrates her legacy.

Mama Makeba was a mother for all of us. Yes, she was my grandmother, but she played the role beyond that.
