Pholokgolo Ramothwala

Pholokgolo Ramothwala chats to Azania about living with HIV and his newly released book, My Life Beyond HIV.

Pholokgolo Ramothwala has helped shape the discourse around HIV/Aids in South Africa for more than twenty years through his work at the Treatment Action Campaign.

Additionally, he helps those diagnosed with the illness through his own business, The Positive Convention Network.

He recently published his book 'My Life Beyond HIV: What HIV taught me in 20 years.

Ramothwala sat down with Azania Mosaka to talk about his remarkable journey.

My younger sister who comes after me, we talk a lot and she is supportive. The people around you help a lot.

Pholokgolo Ramothwala, Director, Positive Convention Network

Once you go through the process of accepting you have a condition and understand that you are not going anywhere. It gets easier.

Pholokgolo Ramothwala, Director, Positive Convention Network

My work now is 90% working with people who are infected. With most of them it is a process, some, in five years they still don't have the energy to talk to anybody about being positive. I get people who say you are the first person I have disclosed this to and I have been positive for eight years.
