Why political analyst Mcebisi Ndletyana doubts there will be a Cabinet reshuffle

Associate Professor of the Dept of Politics and International Relations at UJ Mcebisi Ndletyana says Ramaphosa is very cautious.

Is a Cabinet reshuffle on the cards from President Ramaphosa?

Tuesday's resignation by Minister of Home Affairs Malusi Gigaba opened another vacancy in the 'over bloated' Cabinet so described by political commentators.

Another post was left vacant by the death of minister of Environmental Affairs Edna Molewa.

Will Ramaphosa shake the Cabinet up months before elections?

There are a lot of people who shouldn't be there and should have been kicked out a long time ago like Bathabile Dlamini and Nomvula Mokonyane but they are still there.

Mcebisi Ndletyana, Associate Professor of the Dept of Politics and International Relations at University of Johannesburg

The President seems to be cautious, and a little bit overly so, to act. In the case of Malusi he waited until there was ample evidence that he was bad news then he acted. I sense he didn't want to be seen to acting against Malusi for factional reasons.

The President is now prioritising party cohesion over public morality. He promised public morality more over everything else so is he going to change now that Malusi left?
