State Capture Inquiry

Manyi has made unusual requests during state capture testimony

Former GCIS Head Mzwanele Manyi returns to the state capture commission of inquiry.

Manyi addressed the commission two weeks ago without any legal representation, responding to the testimony by GCIS acting Director-General Phumla Williams. She claimed that Manyi irregularly changed the tender processes at the GCIS, placing all final decisions under him.

Speaking to Xolani Gwala, EWN reporter Clement Manyathela says Manyi has been asking for things that most witnesses would never ask for.

Normally when you come to testify here, you are led into your evidence by one of the evidence leaders.

But Manyi took the stand and then told the deputy chief justice that he would like to read a statement in response to the questions that the lawyers sent him.

He adds that Manyi said he wanted to read his statement and answer all those questions.

He asked to show slides on a screen and the commission said it would be arranged after lunch.
