Steers responds after child stealing patron's bag goes viral

Steers has a zero tolerance for crime, apologies to the patron concerned and says it is helping with the police investigation.

Steers has released a statement after a woman believed to be the mother of three young children was seen in security footage encouraging the oldest child to steal a patron's handbag at a Steers restaurant in a Paarl mall in the Western Cape

Crime Watch's Yusuf Abramjee shared the video which has been viewed almost 70k times.

Steers is disturbed by the content of the video showing crime taking place at our Steers Paarl Mall restaurant early in November. Steers has a zero-tolerance policy to crime. We apologise to the patron affected by the incident and we would like to assure our customers that their safety is paramount to us. It is our understanding that a case of theft has been opened and we are will cooperate with local authorities in their investigation.
