High Court hears Afriforum's bid to have land expropriation report set aside

AfriForum is in a bid to have the Western Cape High Court set aside a report on land expropriation commissioned by Parliament's joint constitutional review committee.

Earlier this month, the committee adopted its final report which recommended that Section 25 of the Constitution be amended.

Eyewitness News reporter Babalo Ndenze shares the details of Afriforum's objections.

Public participation is one of the key points they are raising and they are also taking issue with the third party service provider employed by Parliament to go through the written submission. They are saying the delegation of powers to this service provider was in itself an illegal act.

Babalo Ndenze, EWN reporter

It has been a long debate about who should be hearing the case and the argument from the respondents for parliament is that Afriforum's argument is vague and embarrassing, as well as legally unsound.
