De Lille: Good party will announce list of Premier candidates early next year

Seasoned politician Patricia de Lille says the identity, ideology and political strategy of her new party is a work in progress.

De Lille revealed on Sunday that she’s named her party the Good movement, which is set to contest the 2019 elections.

The former Cape Town mayor stepped down from her post and left the Democratic Alliance (DA) in October.

She says 'Good' is working on key policy themes and a party manifesto. It will announce the names of its Premier candidates early next year.

According to De Lille, crime and corruption persist in the country when good people do nothing.

She says her new party will target the disillusioned and cynical South Africans as well as the undecided voters.

De Lille says 'Good' aims to give voters a broader choice in a multi-party democracy where there appears to be a lack of contestation of ideas.

She adds that her political organisation will conduct two voter surveys in January and in March to test the likelihood of success at the polls.

It's a very simple and authentic name which says quite boldly what we stand for.
