Democratic Alliance MP and Advocate, Glynnis Breytenbach says she would happily serve under newly appointed National Director of Public Prosecutions Shamila Batohi, under the right circumstances.
Batohi was announced as the new NDPP on Tuesday afternoon.
She is set to begin her tenure in February.
The DA and the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa), have both welcomed the appointment.
Breytenbach says Batohi can begin to restore the morale of the National Prosecuting Authority by rooting out the 'bad apples' within the organisation.
The National Prosecuting Authority is a top down organisation, if the head of the organisation had integrity and leads with integrity, then that is the direction that the NPA will go... I certainly think that Shamila is capable of doing that particular job.— Advocate Glynnis Breytenbach, DA MP
Given the correct circumstances I would happily serve under Shamila Batohi.— Advocate Glynnis Breytenbach, DA MP
OUTA's Chief Executive Officer Wayne Duvenage says this is a momentous appointment.
This country will cherish the work that she is going to be doing. This is what the public need because the public or so dejected and there is a total lack of trust.— Advocate Glynnis Breytenbach, DA MP
