Cabinet reshuffle
Job Mokgoro
Public policy specialist Kagiso Pooe says the problems in the North West Province are too dire to fix in just six months.

The troubled North West Province has made several changes to its Provincial Executive Council (PEC). Premiere Job Mokgoro has fired four MECs and has rehired Madoda Sambatha who returns as MEC for Health in Mokgoro's cabinet.

However, will these changes make an impact on the ground?

Public policy specialist and lecturer at North-West University Kagiso Pooe, believes the reshuffle is a purge of public servants that were in Supra Mahumapelo's faction.

He believes the poor will suffer and says even prior to the reshuffle, the health care system and infrastructure of the province were in a dire state.

The big question is not so much who is coming in but what are they are bringing?

National government intervened and appointed a technical team that reported to the inter-ministerial task team headed by Dr Nkosana Dlamini-Zuma. It found that the province was suffering from poor governance, corruption, skills shortages, and an irregular supply chain.

Does this new PEC have the capability to deal with the problems identified?

Pooe does not think so. He says the damage has been too extensive

Mogoro can't put people in that cabinet for six months and expect miracles.
