During an exclusive interview with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Xolani Gwala asked him about government contractor Bosasa which caused controversy when it was revealed the company had donated R500 000 to the Ramaphosa presidential campaign.
Earlier information had come forward which my son shared with me about an affidavit that had been drafted. I asked him, 'Do you do business with this company?' He said yes i do. For me, that was the beginning and the end of it...the way in which Mmusi Maimane raised it in Parliament suggested my son was corrupt. And then I gave an answer. I said he has a contract with this company,— President Cyril Ramaphosa
He explains the amount had been paid into a trust. which was being used by the fundraises of the campaign.
It was being used by the fundraises of the campaign I was running, without my knowledge, without me giving permission. They were in charge of that so I had no knowledge of that whatsoever.— President Cyril Ramaphosa
Ramaphosa says Bosasa has a contract with his son's company.
I answered a question correctly, there is no corruption whatsoever. Money was paid to a campaign fund which I had no control over or knowledge of. None of it went to me, or my family.— President Cyril Ramaphosa
