Mkhwebane to release report on Mbalula's Dubai trip

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane is expected to release a report on her investigations into former Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula's Dubai trip in December 2016.

EWN reporter Barry Bateman says the entire trip to Dubai which the minister and his family arranged through a travel agency, cost an estimated R680 000.

Bateman says he has seen supporting documents that at least R380 000 of the total amount was paid for by Sascoc sporting kit supplier Sedgars Sports.

The issue that is investigated by Mkhwebane relates to lack of disclosure in terms of the member's ethics code because this expense was not declared in Parliament.

Mbalula at the time denied these allegations telling the media that the trip was paid for through private family resources.

He rejected entirely that the trip was paid for by Sedgars. Sedgars also denied any wrong doing...
