We must tell our own stories - authors open up during Literature Corner special

Presenter Eusebius McKaiser wrapped up the year with a 2-hour long Literature Corner Christmas special.

He invited book lovers to join his live studio audience and spoke with several brilliant authors about their craft and latest work.

Eusebius spoke with one of the co-authors of Her Story: Daughters of Modjadji, a children's book that features stories of inspirational women.

Natasha Allie wrote the book with Thandiwe Matthews, Baba-Tamana Gqubule, and says it aims to shine the line on may untold South African stories.

It's an anthology of 30 South African women's stories. It's stories that we don't get told about black women.

Angela Makholwa, the author of The Blessed Girl, says she fell in love with reading at a young age but couldn't see herself represented in the books she read growing up.

The novelist spoke about the inspiration and themes of her book as well as her future fictional works.

Businessman Bonang Mohale says he deliberately wrote his new book Lift As You Rise to inspire reading among aspiring black business leaders.

Author Siya Khumalo spoke about his book You Have to be Gay to Know God and novelist Niq Mhlongo reflected on his short-story collection.

The segment was also peppered with performances by acclaimed poet and playwright Napo Masheane, literature quiz questions, and discussion on Redi Tlhabi’s Khwezi as well as upcoming releases.
