[LISTEN] Here is what you can expect at the annual Carols on the Square event

The annual Carols on the Square event returns this year with renowned conductor and composer Richard Cock.

The Christmas concert takes place on Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton on Sunday 23 December and promises an evening packed with some of your favourite carols.

Cock joined Joanne Joseph on the Afternoon Drive to share a taste of what's to come.

We have got some standard Christmas carols and the orchestra will be playing.

We have also got two wonderful soloists Kimmy Skota and Aubrey Lodewyk. Kimmy Skota will be singing such numbers as Ave Maria and Oh Holy Night and Aubrey Lodewyk does some well known pieces like The Holy City.

We have a choir who will lead the audience in carols and there is a beautiful moment where I will get all the kids up to the front to sing Silent Night in several languages including German,English, Afrikaans, Setswana...
