10, 000 litres of confiscated booze down the drain

Police Minister Bheki Cele was present to oversee the destruction of 10, 000 litres of confiscated alcohol at the central liquor storage facility in Belhar on Wednesday.

The liquor had been confiscated during raids and searches at illegal outlets throughout the Western Cape.

EWN reporter Lauren Isaacs reports that Minister Cele kept saying 'this is worth a lot of money' while doing a walkabout at the facility.

She says Cele stated that they are investigating the possibility of selling confiscated alcohol in future so that the money can be used where it is needed in society.

He said their legal team is currently looking at the laws around this aspect.
