48 000 fans expected to flock to Newlands for Proteas v Pakistan second test

The second test match between South African and Pakistan will get underway at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on Thursday.

Roughly 48 000 cricket lovers are expected to descend on the grounds over the five days of test action.

The Western Province Cricket Association expects 15 000 fans to pitch up on Thursday, 11 000 on Friday, 12 000 on Saturday, and a provisional attendance of 12 000 for the remaining two days.

The pitch is being prepared by seasoned groundsman Evan Flint.

Former Proteas fast bowler Craig Matthews says preparing good wickets and match selection are key factors.

He expects Pakistan to put up a good fight but ultimately foresees a South African victory.

South African has to play hard to win this Test match. I think they will.

Craig Matthews, marketing manager at WP Cricket
