Food Lover's Market denies sending rejects to its Soweto store

Food Lover's Market has denied allegations of neglecting stores in certain areas after a rat was spotted helping itself to some of its food on display at its Diepkloof branch in Soweto.

Some customers have accused the store of delivering rejects to this Soweto store because of the location and fresh food is taken to white-dominated locations.

Legal and Compliance Director at Food Lover's Market Nigel Meintjies says these allegations are not true. He says the store has tried everything in their power to deal with the rat problem by calling in pest control.

The area is known to be rat-infested says Meintjies.

The comments and perceptions that stores in certain areas are not given the same attention are absolutely not true.

This particular store is a franchise and we hold our franchisees to the same standard.

Nigel Meintjies, Legal and Compliance Director at Food Lovers

All I can say for myself and on behalf of my company is that we just have to try better and it is not acceptable to us.

Nigel Meintjies, Legal and Compliance Director at Food Lovers

I just want to dispell the comments that we send the rejects to Soweto, that is absolutely not true.
