DA promises imprisonment for corrupt politicians if you vote it into power

The Democratic Alliance visited Alexandra township on Monday to speak to community members and to listen to their concerns.

The DA's Phumzile Van Damme says she is supporting local businesses in the area as well as encouraging people to register to vote.

This is to listen to the concerns of the people and the community.

The biggest concern that I have come across is housing, as we know that housing is a provincial competence. Lack of identity documents is also a big issue because a lot of children can't go to school because their parents can't get birth certificates for them.

Van Damme says the DA will also be encouraging Alexandra residents to register to vote during the registration weekend in February.

The party will deliver its election manifesto on 23 February.

All the issues brought forward by our people will be infused in the manifesto. All the concerns, we believe the DA will be able to have solutions to.

I think the big issue with regards to housing in Alex is that there is a lot of corruption.

If the DA was the national government we would make sure that politicians convicted of corruption receive 15 years sentences and make sure there is regular lifestyle audit.
