Wife of SA terror accused claims Mozambique police are 'corrupt' law breakers

Francis Hanekom, the wife of terror accused Andre Hanekom, claims her husband was hijacked just moments before he was due to be released on bail.

Hanekom is facing charges of murder, crimes against the state and inciting disobedience along with two Tanzanian nationals in Mozambique as part of what the government there calls a jihadist terror group.

Some of the criminal investigation policemen that are corrupt had hijacked him. He was not rearrested, he was taken illegally from jail.

Hanekom, 60, was formally arrested in August in a hospital after being seized by the military from a restaurant in the gas industry hub town of Palma.

Mrs Hanekom claims that the Mozambican court is not aware that her husband is still being held.

The court does not have the knowledge that he is locked away. They think he is a free man.

When asked if there was any reason why her husband may be being targeted by the military, Mrs Hanekom spoke of his Palma Beach property.

There are some very influential people who are very interested in this property. The property is in a very favourable position. There is natural gas.
