Pundits discuss the impact of the celebrations that are being held in KwaZulu Natal.

The African National Congress (ANC) is celebrating 107 years of existence. The main celebrations will take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. President Cyril Ramaphosa conducted a walkabout at the Pinetown Taxi Rank on Tuesday where he met with commuters and drivers.

The president followed the walk with an early morning service at the Central Methodist Church and a mini-rally at the birthplace of the party's founding president.

EWN reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo says it has been a jovial mood.

We know that this weekend on January 12 there will be the official launch of the people's manifesto and a full statement.

Wits School of Governance Professor Ivor Sarakinsky also weighed in on the conversation saying the swipe by Ramaphosa on Zuma's government and his reflecting on how the country was saved from a deteriorating state is a mix of messages.

On the one hand, it is a firm comment, but then in another breath says that former president Jacob Zuma has got an important role to play in mobilising and unifying the ANC. So he is giving a bit and he is taking a bit at the same time.

He adds that the president's stance clearly indicates that he is not confident in clearly coming out in criticism of the former administration's conduct.

Sarakinsky says the former president plays a big role in the ANC's election campaign and can be deployed to garner support on the ANC's behalf.

Ramaphosa also laid wreaths at the gravesite of the late Langalibalele Dube. EWN reporter Clement Manyathela says at the ceremony Ramaphosa walked alongside former president Jacob Zuma and a few NEC members.
