An EFF branch in North West says suspending the teacher allegedly responsible for segregated teaching at Schweizer Reneke Laerskool is not enough.

North West Education MEC Sello Lehare announced the suspension of the teacher in charge of a class where black and white children were apparently separated.

A picture distributed on social media shows a group of white pupils at the school sitting together while their four black classmates sit at a small table near the door.

EFF's regional secretary Justice Dabampe says both the principal and teacher should be fired with immediate effect.

Furthermore, Dabampe argues that the teacher should have her South African Council of Educators (SACE) teaching certificate withdrawn.

He accuses the provincial education department of allowing institutional racism at the school where Afrikaans is the medium of instruction.

As the EFF in Dr Ruth Mompati District we are not happy at all... This is not the first time that such a racist act takes place.

The principal must be fired and that particular teacher must be fired with immediate effect.
