Quit discriminating against single people - it's harmful, says Dr Eve

Society needs to stop marginalising single people, says clinical sexologist Dr Eve.

Dr Eve says relentless pressure on single people can lead to unhealthy habits and behaviours.

Author and social psychologist Bella de Paulo has coined the term "singlism”, which she describes as the stereotyping, stigmatising and discrimination against people who are single.

At the same time, De Paulo says society is obsessed with what she dubs “matrimania”, referring to the over-the-top hyping of marriage, weddings, and couples.
