The public can have a say on how foreign nationals' employment should work

The Department of Labour is inviting industry and members of the public to comment on the draft regulations on the Employment of Foreign Nationals that is in the process of being implemented.

The draft regulations include proposals affecting the applications of work visas, corporate visas and the submissions of skills transfer plans.

According to Marisa Jacobs, Xpatweb director and head of immigration and mobility, the labour department would also like to ensure that locals are learning essential skills from foreign professionals coming into the country.

Let's also make sure that we are upskilling our local workforce.

If you are a business and you are bringing in a foreign professional, it is your responsibility to ensure that you formulate a skill transfer plan and that you are ensuring implementation, monitoring and reporting of that skill transfer.
